Maternity sessions should be done between 29-32 weeks

Newborn sessions should be done between 3-10 days old.  Length of the newborn session depends on the temperament of baby and feedings

What to wear…

First and foremost, BE YOU!  Your clothing choices should allow you to be yourself and reflect your family’s personality. My family is casual, relaxed and playful. We find smart casual is what suits us best and love pops of colour. What is your family like? Also, what is your living room like? Where will you be hanging the beautiful pictures? Consider the coloring of your house as well. Now, with that said…here are some ideas to get you started.

#1:  One color

Pick one color and wear different shades of it. But add in some dresses for the girls rather than all in jeans. Add accessories too!

#2:  Two or three colors

Or pick a couple of colours and have different coordinating shades on everyone. Those colours can be bold or they can be soft. Depends on your preferences and what fits your family best.

#3:  Patterns

Found a pattern you like? Use it. No need to stay with solids. But don’t use too many busy patterns, throw in some solids or real simple stripes to balance it out.

#4:  Add some pop!

Wear simple colours, like black, tan, or even gray. But then add a pop of color or personality with colourful hats, jackets, shoes, scarves, or other accessories. Or even stay simple with your clothing colours but then lets go to a bright location for your background. Be you! Let you shine!

#5:  Dont be afraid of beautiful bold colour!

Colour photographs so beautifully, whether it’s mellow color or bold color. It photographs so much nicer than white. So, go for it! If you’re a bold, spunky person, then find some beautiful color!

What to wear for a Newborn Session….

Are you wondering what you or your other children should wear during your photo shoot with your newborn baby? Well, first think through where you might like to hang some images of your newborn baby, baby with siblings, etc. Look at the colour tones in that room (living room, nursery, hallway, master bedroom). I also would encourage you to choose simple beautiful clothing that you will like for quite some time. I want you to love your pictures in ten years as well as today.

Here are a few suggestions for siblings and/or family with some examples:
(note: baby looks sweetest naked, in diaper cover, or swaddled when needed rather than in an outfit)

1)  Mostly whites or creams pretty much go with everything and are very sweet.

2)  Soft grey tones are very subtle, we have some stunning charcoal wraps and blankets that babies look amazing in

3)  Soft blues and whites/creams are gentle, yet stunning.

4)  Browns, creams, and earth tones together are beautiful in photos.

5)  You can add a little more colour but still somewhat simple so focus is on baby.
